When I ran my MSP, mornings often started in chaos. My phone was buzzing before my first sip of coffee. Alerts, emails, clients expecting me to be on call 24/7. My energy was spent before the day even began. Sound familiar?
For years I lived that way: reactive, stressed, and overwhelmed. Until I learned a simple shift that completely changed how I approached each day. I have Tony Robbins to thank for it!
Tony talks about speaking seven lines to yourself every morning. At first, it sounded like fluff. A mindset thing? Really? But let me tell you: it’s one of the most practical, powerful strategies I ever implemented.
These lines didn’t just change my mornings, they helped me grow my MSP into a seven-figure business and continue to guide me today with running Cloud Services for MSPs.
So, let’s walk through them!
1. Today I choose to be happy
Happiness is a decision, not a reward. I stopped waiting for the perfect day to feel good and chose happiness right from the start. In the MSP world, chaos is inevitable, but choosing happiness upfront keeps you in control.
2. I am grateful for everything I have
Gratitude rewires the brain. When you’re focused on what you’re thankful for (your team, your family, the clients you get to serve) you can’t live in fear or stress at the same time. Gratitude and anxiety don’t mix!
3. I am capable of achieving great things
Not every day building an MSP feels great. Some days it feels like nothing is working. But this line reminded me I had done hard things before and could do them again. It gave me the courage to take risks (like pivoting to cloud before it was trendy) because I trusted our ability to figure it out!
4. I choose to focus on what I can control
This was a game-changer. You can’t control the economy, vendor price hikes, or client drama. But you can control your reaction. Every time I caught myself obsessing over what-ifs, I came back to this line and redirected my energy toward what actually moved the business forward.
5. I embrace challenges as opportunities for growth
This one felt cheesy at first, but it saved me in tough moments. When we lost a major client, I reframed it: What can we learn? How can we come out stronger? Suddenly setbacks became stepping stones.
6. I am committed to continuous improvement
Technology changes daily, and so should we. Growth didn’t come from one giant breakthrough: it came from hundreds of small improvements over time. Reading, learning, asking for help, tweaking systems: all added up to massive results.
7. I choose to make a positive impact today
This is the why. We aren’t just fixing printers. We’re protecting businesses, enabling teams, and keeping people secure and productive. Reminding myself of this every morning kept me fired up and focused on the bigger picture.
The Transformation
When I started speaking these lines out loud, something shifted. My mornings went from reactive chaos to clarity and excitement. My mind reset, and the business followed suit.
It only takes two minutes: No apps, no journaling, just you and your voice. Write the lines down. Say them out loud. Even if it feels silly at first, commit to trying it for seven days and assess the difference!
Building a successful MSP isn’t just about sales, tools, or marketing: it’s about how you show up every single day.
So here’s my challenge to you: tomorrow morning, before you touch your phone or check tickets, say these seven lines.
And I’ll leave you with this powerful reminder from Tony Robbins himself:
“The only limit to your impact is your imagination and commitment.”
Have a great week and weekend!
