Cultivating Business Using this Cloud Strategy

It’s time to utilize our proven cloud strategy to grow your MSP business.

Sometimes all it takes is one great strategy to make you look at your MSP operations in a completely new light.

Success breeds success. We’ve all heard this statement before. Easier said than done, right? However, it is especially relevant for MSPs. If you want great clients for your business, the first step is to get rid of the ones stealing all of your energy and focus.

If there’s any book out there that stops you in your tracks and makes you take inventory of everything you do in your business, it’s Mike Michalowicz’s The Pumpkin Plan  . Why? It focuses directly on this importance of getting the right clients and removing clients that rob your company of the time and energy needed to grow and prosper. Having a cloud gameplan in this same style will do wonders for your success.

Read on for a rundown of three main steps of the Pumpkin Plan and how they can be applied to sell cloud services most effectively and fine tune your cloud strategy.

Step 1 – Plant the right seeds.

Don’t waste time overexerting your MSP and focusing on quantity to try and please your customers. Instead, identify the one thing you do better than anyone else and focus all of your attention, money, and time on figuring out how to grow your company doing it.

While cloud may not be that one thing for your MSP right now, you still need to have a dedicated and engaged client base before selling cloud services and building your cloud strategy. Growing your MSP through providing the most value to your clients will give you better insight into the needs of each business.

As you gain clients, you’ll start to recognize which ones would benefit the most from adding cloud services. For the next step, you’ll be looking at the opposite.

Step 2 – Weed out the losers.

In a pumpkin patch, rotten pumpkins stunt the growth of robust, healthy ones. What this means for your MSP is to eliminate the time you spend targeting unqualified and uninterested clients with cloud services. Figure out which clients are the least engaged with your cloud services and stop targeting them with messaging. This is a vital part of your cloud strategy!

Your time is better spent targeting these clients with tools that provide them immediate value outside of a cloud migration.

Step 3 – Nurture the winners.

Once you figure out who your best clients are, target them with messaging and material that will prompt action. These clients are engaged with cloud, so don’t hold back. Work with your cloud provider to fully communicate the value that cloud migration has and drive business as a result.

Conveniently, we are one of those cloud providers…

Whatever way you choose to incorporate the steps of the Pumpkin Plan, you’re minimizing time and effort that goes into uninterested clients while effectively selling cloud by focusing on clients who benefit the most from it. We recommend you give the full book a read as well. It goes into much more detail that your MSP may find useful.
