How Smart MSPs Close More Deals Without the Chase

When we ran our MSP, we were always looking for ways to stand out from the crowd. Every competitor seemed to be saying the same thing with the same generic pitch. That’s when we discovered one of the most underutilized, low-cost, high-impact tools in the industry: webinars!

Before you roll your eyes and think “nobody watches webinars anymore,” let me stop you. We didn’t just sell cloud and security by sending out proposals. We positioned ourselves as educators, not salespeople, and webinars were one of the smartest moves we ever made!

Why Webinars Are a Game-Changer

The truth is, your prospects are drowning in emails from every vendor under the sun. They’ve learned to tune it all out. But what if, instead of another pitch, they see an invite like:
“Three Critical Cloud Mistakes Law Firms Are Making Right Now… and How to Fix Them.”

No pressure. No sales pitch. Just real value!

Here’s why webinars worked so well for us:

  1. They positioned us as expert advisors instead of “just another MSP.”
  2. We gave value first, which built trust quickly.
  3. They attracted warm, qualified leads who wanted to hear what we had to say.

It was like hosting a one-to-many sales conversation without actually selling. Plus, they were low-cost and repeatable! We used them to introduce new services, break into niche markets like law firms and CPAs, and stay top of mind with cold leads.

What Makes a Webinar Convert

Not all webinars are created equal. Here’s what we learned about running ones that actually get results:

  • Start with a powerful title. Skip vague fluff like “Cybersecurity Secrets.” Instead, promise an outcome: “How to Protect Your Manufacturing Firm from Ransomware in 2025” or “Cloud Misconfigurations That Are Costing You.”
  • Keep it short and focused. The sweet spot is 20–30 minutes of high-value content. Include a quick intro, 2–3 hard-hitting tips, a short Q&A, and a clear call to action.
  • Have a clear next step. Don’t end with “Thanks for coming.” End with: “If you want help applying this to your business, let’s do a quick 15-minute strategy call: no pressure.”

Remember, your webinar isn’t about a deep dive into your tech stack: it’s about what your audience cares about.

How to Make It Easy

If you’re thinking “I don’t have time to build all this,” here’s the good news: you don’t have to start from scratch!

  • Use ChatGPT to brainstorm topics, write titles, create slides, or turn existing blogs into webinar scripts.
  • Use Gamma.app to build professional slide decks in minutes.

These tools cut our prep time from hours to minutes.

The Real Magic Happens After the Webinar

Here’s where most MSPs mess up: they think the webinar is the event. It’s not! The webinar is the opener. Most attendees won’t book a call right away, not because they aren’t interested, but because they’re busy.

Your follow-up is what turns a “nice presentation” into booked revenue! In part two of our Webinars That Win series, I’ll share the exact follow-up system we use to turn attendees into clients without sounding desperate or salesy.

Your Challenge This Week

Come up with one webinar topic your ideal client would drop everything to attend. Just one. Then, take it a step further: use ChatGPT and  Gamma.app to start building your outline!

When we embraced webinars, they helped us land some of our biggest clients, build trust at scale, and stand out when everyone else sounded the same. If you’re serious about growth, it’s time to start running webinars that win!

Today’s quote is from Benjamin Franklin: “An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest.”
