Does Your MSP Have What it Takes to Stay Ahead in Today’s Economy?

It wasn’t all that long ago when rotary dial telephones, spending time at the mall with friends, and listening to music on vinyl were the “in” things to do. Just a short 30 or so years ago, we lived with quite a minimal amount of technology impacting our daily lives. But a quarter of a century has drastically changed the way we live. So what does this mean for MSPs who are trying to stay ahead in today’s economy? Do you need to provide cloud services to keep up? In the simplest terms, absolutely… But keep reading to learn more.

A Look at How the Cloud Has Changed Our Economy (And What’s to Come in the Next Few Years…)

The cloud has changed our economy in a big way. Take a look at your home or office. How many connected devices do you see? Did you have those connected devices 5 or so years ago? Alexa, smartphones, tablets, and other devices – all powered via the cloud – litter our homes and offices. They change the way we communicate, work, and overall, the way we live on a day-to-day basis.

At the end of the day, MSPs must ride this wave of innovation. Consider this: The cloud has already changed the economy in a HUGE way – streaming services, cloud storage, online applications, and other offerings have already reduced server sales and even network management requirements.

Now what about the technology of the future? We have devices we never would’ve dreamed of years ago, and in the next 5-10 years, we’ll have even more devices that aren’t even created yet. What will MSPs manage on the network when there’s nothing left to manage? That’s a thought for another day, but right now, it’s vital to stay ahead:

  1. Start with the cloud: First and foremost, MSPs must start providing cloud services to their clients. This is the forefront of innovation at the moment. If you’re not providing cloud services, you’re going to fall behind the competition.
  2. Understand the benefits of innovation: In order to sell innovation to your clients, you must understand the benefits of innovation. It’s all about selling the business outcome – enhanced flexibility, greater accessibility, less security breaches, etc.
  3. Keep up with advancements: If you’re not attending events, learning from manufacturers, and overall, keeping up with the latest advancements, it’s time to start. Technology will change fast and you have to stay involved to stay ahead.
